- Use the removable base to mount securely to the bilge floor Consider using shims if your bilge floor isn't perfectly level Make sure it won't shift or tip during boat movement The level installation is the most important factor - many customers initially had issues until they shimmed the pump to near-level position. You'll need 3/4 inch marine bilge hose to connect properly. Most boat supply stores carry this standard size - look for reinforced marine-grade bilge hose that can handle the pump's 750 GPH flow rate without collapsing.
