In the first half of the last century, between 1930 and 1950, Benlee was a big name. Famous boxers fought with it: "Bomber Brown" Joe Louis, "Jersey" Joe Walcott and Rocky Marciano, three heavyweight champions one by one. They all stood in the ring with Benlee boxing gloves and Benlee sports trousers. Other champions such as Jake "The Raging Bull" La Motta, "Sugar" Ray Robinson and Floyd Patterson also wore Benlee. Benlee began producing boxing equipment in the 30s, but retired from business in the 60s. Punch GmbH revives the tradition and in commemoration of Rocky Marciano, the best boxer of all time, she has attached his name to "his" brand: BenleeRockyMarciano.
